The damage caused by Chafer Grubs

Chafer Grubs Chafer grubs eat grass roots. Grass growth slows and yellow patches appear. Grass is easily pulled up, with little or no root growth.

Wildlife, such as foxes and badgers, can also create a lot of damage as they dig up your lawn in search of grubs for food. Rooks, magpies, crows and woodpeckers feeding on your lawn are a good sign of a chafer grub infestation. Generally, birds do more damage than mammals as they access infected areas more readily!

Chafer Grubs Another pest that attacks lawns causing similar symptoms is the leatherjacket, which is the larval stage of the crane fly (daddy-long-legs). It is easy to tell the difference by looking at the grub. Leatherjackets emerge later than chafer grubs. Click here for more information on leatherjackets and how to get rid of them.
